The Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week is here to stay and, by all accounts, this year was a hit. Newcomers Ocho Rios, St Ann and Montego Bay, St James joined restaurants in St Andrew and we saw the name change that omitted Kingston and the birth of Restaurant Week. We hope that next year, we will be welcoming Mandeville and Negril.
Here at The Gleaner, we take this opportunity to thank all sponsors who participated and we hope that this boost to the coffers of restaurants will be enough to keep business on an upswing into Christmas and the new year.
Dragon City
According the owner Nicholas Lai, this year's Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week was very good. "Very, very good this second time around; hope we could have it 10 times per year; it was so much better than last year," he told Food.
Habibi Latino
According to waitress Simone Hallen, it was better than last year and on the first two nights they were fully booked.
Bobsled Café
For these first-timers from the Second City, their inaugural week was good. According to floor manager Kayon Russell, "It was pretty wonderful, there were days when all our tables were occupied. The first day was the best overall.
Jewel of India
These veteran participants have seen better years. According to waitress Camille Stephens, it was very good but not as busy as last year.
Coral Cliff Rum Jungle in Montego Bay could not have hosted their Restaurant Week event without these dedicated waiters and waitresses who worked tirelessly to ensure that each customer felt special and was served efficiently.
