Superintendent Harry 'Bungles' Daley will have to wait another month to know his fate in the corruption case being brought against him in the Corporate Area Criminal Court.

Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey yesterday delayed handing down her verdict in front of a crowded courtroom.

Composed, the dark-suited Daley stood calmly amid the hush, as Pusey postponed the much-anticipated verdict after revealing that she was hampered by illness.

A large group of journalists who descended on the Half-Way Tree Courthouse to witness the ruling on the high-profile case came away clearly deflated when the resident magistrate said she was not able to examine the evidence.

Dec 16 verdict

Pusey, who had reserved her decision on November 6 and had set a date for yesterday, promised that her verdict will definitely be handed down on December 16.

Later, Daley emerged from the court seemingly unruffled, and coolly told the throng of reporters outside that he remained confident of victory.

"I am feeling like I always do, I don't worry about things over which I have no control. I won't comment on this or other cases, but I am confident of the outcome," he said.
