Nelson, who was rushed to a medical facility in the United States last week after falling ill, is due back in the island today despite not having surgery.

"The doctors have run extensive tests from head to toe, including my heart, and they came away quite pleased," he said.

Nelson said all the doctors found were gallstones.

He said he was administered medication to address that problem and was advised to check back in six weeks.

Speaking from his hospital bed, Nelson said he felt strong and bored.

Ready to work

"I am feeling well, I have been well for the last few days ... I have been discharged, I will be back in Jamaica tomorrow (today) and ready to work."

He said he was even given stress tests and the doctors were happy with the results.

The national security minister complained last week Wednesday of severe abdominal pains.

His private doctor referred him to the University Hospital of the West Indies.
