Running from taxes are you?

The Editor, Sir:

I want to start off by saying that I have no allegiance to any of the political parties in Jamaica, hence my comments must not be taken as biased. I read in The Gleaner, however, of there being an exodus of young professionals from Jamaica because they want to leave the woes of Jamaica behind including high taxes.

I must say, however, that if one of their destinations is the US they will be paying tax on everything they buy in a store. The US is the land of opportunity, yes, but people have to pay a lot of taxes.

pee pee, cluck cluck

The People's National Party (PNP) is a hindsight party. They were in power for 18 years and did nothing to better the country, and now every move that the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) makes they are behind them 'pee pee, cluck cluck' telling them how to run the country. Then, there is Omar Davies who two weeks ago was sitting in an inquiry as the 'head cook and bottle washer', whose government was responsible for many people losing their life savings and becoming homeless, telling the JLP about the intricacies of finance.

When PNP was in power and they made a decision that adversely affected the nation, did they retract and not carry it out? I'm very disappointed with Bruce Golding that he would let the previously inept administration who helped the decisions that he was making right now cause him to change his decision. Taxes are inevitable. Does the PNP have an alternative on how to get the revenue that is needed to fix the ills brought upon the nation for 18 years of futile governance ?

I am, etc.,
